|Species||Rating||Size||Baits, Method & Location|
|Channel Catfish||Good||Up to 2-3 lbs||Channel Catfish have been biting on prepared baits and cut bait in the Wichita Area recently. Chisholm North, Watson, Emery Park, the KDOT lakes and the other lakes in the Wichita Metro Area are excellent for Catfish.|
|White Crappie||Fair to Poor||Up to 12"||Crappie are starting to move out into open water for the summer. Try a jig or minnow 3-6 feet under a bobber. Vary your depth until you start catching fish. Mornings and evenings are best. Crappie are best at the KDOT Lakes, Watson Park, K-96 lake and Chisholm North lake.|
|Largemouth Bass||Good||Up to 18"||Bass are in spawning mode right now. Nest guarding males will hit most any soft plastic lure fished near their bed. Larger females will be staged a little deeper and can be caught on a wide variety of lures. Bass fishing in Wichita can be found at any of the lakes, but the best reports come from the KDOT lakes, Emery Park, Blackbird and Sunflower Ponds and Chisholm north lake.|
|Bluegill||Excellent||Up to 1 lb||Bluegill will be spawning over the next couple of weeks. Try a small piece of worm under a bobber in shallow water. Bluegill spawn in colonies, and once you've located them, many nice fish can be caught. Colonies are often located in 1-2 feet of water near some kind of cover such as a fallen tree, or along inside bends in the shoreline. This is also and exclellent time to flyfish for Bluegills. Bluegill are present in every lake in the area, but are especially good at Blackbird and Sunflower ponds, Chisholm North lake, and Emery Park Pond.|
