CHEYENNE BOTTOMS - Last Updated: 12/15/2017

Waterfowl numbers iSportsman (electronic daily hunt permit system) will be required of all hunters this fall.  There will not be any cards available this year, so please set up an iSportsman account prior to this hunting season.  We estimate 15,000-25,000 ducks, about half are mallards, the rest are pintails, shovelers, gadwalls, greenwings, and a few divers .  We have a lot of pintails, so remember only one pintail can be harvested per day.   50,000 - 100,000 geese, mostly snows.  Goose numbers vary depending on day and time of day.  If the report has not been updated in a few days, please assume birds numbers are about the same as the last update.  If there is a big change, the report will be updated, otherwise the report will be updated as close to every Thursday as possible.
Water level iSportsman (electronic daily hunt permit system) will be required of all hunters this fall.  There will not be any cards available this year, so please set up an iSportsman account prior to this hunting season.  Pool 1A is near 27", 1B and 1C are around 26".  Pool 2 is near 20", Pool 3A is about 12", 3B is about 14", 4A is 16", 4B is 16", and Pool 5 is about dry.  These water levels should stay roughly the same throughout regular duck season.
Hunting conditions

iSportsman (electronic daily hunt permit system) will be required of all hunters this fall.  There will not be any cards available this year, so please set up an iSportsman account prior to this hunting season.  Burned and disked around 500 acres in 3B this past fall/winter.  220 acres were disked and planted to millet in pools 3B and 4B.  Roughly 750 acres of cattails were sprayed on 8/1/17.  About 400 acres were disked multiple times in 3B and 4B this summer.  Some hunting holes were mowed in 3A.  Otherwise, conditions will be real similar to last year.  Pool 5 will remain dry for cattail control this fall and winter.  3A will again be restricted to non-motorized boats.  Use the foot crossings along the 3B/4A road and along 4B as channels have been dug out and are very deep.

No ice at this time.  Some thin ice has been forming some mornings, but has been gone by mid morning.

Expected hunting success iSportsman (electronic daily hunt permit system) will be required of all hunters this fall.  There will not be any cards available this year, so please set up an iSportsman account prior to this hunting season.  Fair, similar to last year. For the entire first segment, duck hunters averaged 2.2 ducks per hunter.  For the past week, goose hunters have been averaging less than 1 goose per hunter .
