KDWP Museum Beehive
Can I catch bait fish in one lake and use them another?

No. Bait fish caught in one department-managed water may not be transported to and used in another department-managed water. It is also illegal to release fish caught in public water unless caught in that water. Exotic species such as Asian carp and white perch are serious threats to our native fish populations and angling traditions, and moving bait fish may introduce these dangerous exotics into new waters. For more information, refer to the Aquatic Nuisance Species page.
