NATURAL RESOURCES LEGACY ALLIANCE REPORTS PROGRESS

Two years ago, the Kansas Natural Resources Legacy Alliance submitted its final recommendations on management of the state’s natural resources. Members of the Alliance represented a broad spectrum of Kansans – private citizens, current and former legislators, state agency directors, private organizations, and university faculty. Public meetings were conducted across the state to discuss natural resource issues, and to generate strategies to address those issues.

The Alliance has recently produced its 2005 Status Report, summarizing progress that has been made on strategies identified in the group’s final recommendations. The group identified 30 strategies to address the 10 most critical natural resource issues, such as outdoor recreation access, land use planning, and environmental education.
