KDWP AUTOMATED LICENSING UP AND RUNNING

Some license vendors may not be ready for a few weeks

PRATT -- The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks' (KDWP) much-anticipated automated licensing system is now in operation at KDWP offices and select license vendors the agency has announced. Because the system is still under construction, a number of license vendors may not be up and running until mid-September.

With the new system, Kansas hunters are now able to purchase over-the-counter big game permits online for the first time. Such permits include resident firearms and archery Whitetail Either Sex and Whitetail Antlerless-Only Deer permits, Whitetail Antlerless-Only Deer game tags, and resident Archery Antelope permits. In addition to the streamlined point-of-sale offered by the automated licensing system, customers may purchase most licenses, permits, and registrations from their homes, either through online computer purchase or by phoning 1-833-587-2164, toll-free.

There are a variety of advantages to this automated system. Hunters will enjoy the convenience of a streamlined, automated licensing service wherever licenses are sold. With point-of-sale electronic licensing, no longer will hunters or clerks have to fill out hand-written forms, and the waiting time for purchase should be greatly reduced. The new systems will provide more convenient access to licenses and permits for anyone who hunts, fishes, boats, or visits state parks in Kansas.

The system will be paid for by minimal fees, ranging from 50 cents to $1.15, attached to each license, permit, or registration sold.
