Governor's Fishing Classic Youth Essay Contest

Young hunters should sharpen pencils and get ready to win $100

TOPEKA - The 9th Annual Governor?s Golfing and Fishing Classic is scheduled for June 16-17 at Milford Reservoir, near Junction City. Part of this event is a special youth essay contest open to all Kansas youth 16 and younger. The winners of the essay contest will be recognized by Gov. Kathleen Sebelius during the Governor?s Award Ceremony, to be held at 1 p.m. on June 17.

A cash award of $100 and a plaque will be awarded to the top female and male winning essay writers. The essay contest is sponsored by the Geary County Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Kansas Wildscape Foundation. The Kansas Wildscape Foundation, host of the Governor?s Fishing Classic, will also provide entry into the Governor?s Youth Fishing Clinic for the two winners.

This year's essay subject is ?My Biggest Fish Tale.? Essays must be 500 words or less and should be submitted to the Kansas Wildscape Foundation, c/o Governor?s Fishing Classic Essay Contest, 1 Riverfront Plaza, Suite 311, Lawrence, KS 66044, by May 20.
