QU CHAPTER SPONSORS STAN BOOS MEMORIAL YOUTH HUNT

Quail Unlimited memorial hunt in Brown County
HIAWATHA -- The Brown County Chapter of Quail Unlimited (QU) hold its first annual Stan Boos Memorial Youth Hunt on Saturday, Oct. 28. Participants will assemble on the parking lot of the Army National Guard Armory, 108 N. 1st Street in Hiawatha at 7 a.m. After check-in, they will proceed to the event location just outside the city limits.

Area youth ages 10-14 who have received hunter education certification are encouraged to participate in this event. Activities will include a hunting safety review, shotgun clay target shooting, snacks, a quail hunt, hands-on demonstration in cooking quail, prizes, and lunch.

“Our chapter members thought this annual memorial youth hunt would be a terrific way for the community to honor the memory of Stan Boos," says Bill Rockey, chapter chairman. "Stan was one of our area's most respected wildlife conservationists and was heavily involved in the youth of our community.”

The endorsement and attendance of a parent or legal guardian is required for a child to participate in the event. Mothers are particularly encouraged to participate. The event is free, but a brief essay is required as part of the application process. Space is limited.

To receive an application or additional information, phone Bill Rockey at 785-742-3809. For more information on QU in Kansas, phone Bob Peterson at 417-359-5807 or email bpeterson@qu.org .
