JUNTION CITY -- Youth who have completed a certified hunter education course will have the opportunity to participate in a youth and mentor pheasant hunting class at Rock Springs 4-H Ranch, near Junction City, on March 4-5. The course will be conducted by the Kansas Hunter Education Instructors Association to educate youth about pheasants, their habitat and biology, and pheasant hunting.

Wingshooting skill will be an important part of this event. In addition, field safety, ethics, and dog handling will be taught. The course will culminate with a youth-mentor hunt for released birds on private land, followed by field dressing of birds taken.

The cost of the event is $185 per person, which includes classroom work, wingshooting lessons, meals, and lodging. Birds harvested will be dressed and taken home by participants. For more information, phone Tim Wright at 785-272-1440 or email him at whitewolf.28@netzero.net .
