Clay targets, .22 caliber rifle shooting, free dinner to highlight event
TOPEKA -- On Wednesday, Aug. 30, the Topeka Chapter of Pheasants Forever , in cooperation with the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, is holding the annual novice shooting clinic at its Leopold Conservation Education Area by Perry Reservoir, north of the Perry State Park office.

The shoot is for youth with limited shooting experience and will feature three shotgun stations with clay targets and a .22 caliber rifle station. Dinner for all will be served starting at 5:30 p.m., and shooting will begin at 6 p.m. Dinner, drinks, ammunition, and clay targets will be provided at no charge. A hunter education course is not required, and guns will be provided for those who don't have one.

The area is handicapped-accessible. Space is limited to ensure that all youth receive ample time for instruction and practice.
