CEDAR BLUFF STATE PARK HOSTS SECOND ANNUAL HOLIDAY IN LIGHTS

Christmas light display expected to draw large crowd

Cedar Bluff State Park is drawing attention and getting folks in the Christmas spirit with its second annual Holiday In Lights event. On the nights of Wednesday Dec. 10, and Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Dec. 12-14, viewers can drive through the park’s Bluffton Area, on the north shore of Cedar Bluff Reservoir, and enjoy more than 10 miles of dazzling light displays. Normal park entrance fees are waived, but an admission fee of $1 per person is charged.

The display begins at dusk each day and ends at 10 p.m. Cedar Bluff State Park is about 13 miles south of I-70 on highway 147, about 45 miles southwest of Hays.

Holiday In Lights participants can also enjoy the lights while on a hayrack ride or roast marshmallows and drink hot chocolate around the fire pits. Last year’s inaugural event drew more than 2,000 visitors, and more are expected this year.

Holiday In Lights is made possible by material and labor donations from the park’s friends group, the Diehards, and local businesses. Cedar Bluff State Park staff conduct the Christmas lights event along with many other special events throughout the year to attract park visitors and enhance their stays.
