MILFORD WILDLIFE AREA TO CONDUCT FREE FUN TRAP SHOOT OCT. 13

Experts and novices invited; shot shells and 20-gauge shotguns provided
MILFORD -- On Saturday, Oct. 13, the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP) will conduct a public trap shoot for all ages and skill levels. The event will run from 9 a.m. to noon at the Milford Wildlife Area office. Part of KDWP's "Pass It On" program -- designed to recruit and retain Kansas hunters, particularly youngsters -- the event will have experienced instructors on hand, including at least one National Rifle Association certified instructor. Serious shooters, novices, or those just wishing to practice are invited.

Twelve and 20-gauge steel shot shells, 20 gauge shotguns, clay targets, and throwers will be provided. Those who bring their own shotguns -- no matter the gauge -- should be aware that steel shot requires chokes no tighter than modified.

To reach the wildlife area office, drive west on Highway 82 from Wakefield, then turn north on Highway 837 (Redwood Road), follow the blacktop for approximately 3.5 miles, then turn west on 10th Road. The office is on the south side of the road.
