2008 WORLD ALL-ROUND WATERFOWL CALLING CHAMPIONSHIP APRIL 19

Hoisington to host event; $1,000 prizes offered in four divisions

On April 19, Cheyenne Partnership of Hoisington will host the 2008 World All-Round Waterfowl Calling Championship near Cheyenne Bottoms Wildlife Area. Callers must compete in each of four divisions: Canada Goose, snow goose, white-fronted goose, and mallard duck.

Five judges will rate the callers on a scale of one to 10, with the high and low score discarded. Although $1,000 prizes will be awarded in each division, the caller with the most points at the end of the competition wins the All-Round Champion title.

In addition to Kansas and nearby state callers, independent competitors from Maryland, Louisiana, Texas, Minnesota, and California have already signed up. Manufacturers are expected to send callers, as well.

The event will take place during the annual Cheyenne Bottoms Wetlanders Festival in downtown Hoisington, which also includes dog demonstrations, archery shooting, geocaching, a "Pass It On" trap shoot, and an evening dance and barbeque.
