COMMENTS INVITED ON DRAFT OUTDOOR RECREATION PLAN

Draft plan, email comment form available on KDWP website

The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks invites public review and comment on the draft “2009 State Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan.”

The plan serves as a guidebook to maintain and develop natural resources and recreation infrastructure in Kansas, and is a requirement of the Land and Water Conservation Fund Act of 1965 (LWCF). Considerable public input already has been collected to develop the plan through statewide conferences and surveys, but additional public input is welcome. Public comment will be accepted through Jan. 26, 2009.

A twelve-member advisory committee representing the major suppliers of outdoor recreation in the state has overseen development of the draft plan. Committee members include representatives from KDWP and the Kansas Wildlife & Parks Commission, community recreation departments, tourism officials, and private industry partners, as well as other state agencies.

The draft plan is available in PDF from the KDWP website (www.kdwp.state.ks.us). Click here or enter “2009 S.C.O.R.P. Draft” in the search box at the KDWP website to locate the draft, as well as a link to an email comment form.
