LEFTOVER NONRESIDENT DEER PERMITS AVAILABLE BEGINNING JULY 20

More than 4,650 permits available to nonresidents; all deer management units have leftover permits
PRATT -- The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP) has announced that 4,652 nonresident deer permits are still available for the 2009 season. These are permits that were not taken in the May nonresident application period. They are Whitetail Either-Sex permits (hunter designates equipment/season choice, as well as one adjacent unit, at time of purchase) and will be sold to any nonresident who did not successfully draw a 2009 permit, beginning July 20, on a first-come, first-served basis at license vendors, online at the KDWP website (www.kdwp.state.ks.us), or by phoning 620-672-5911 and asking for Licensing.

The number of leftover Nonresident Whitetail Either Sex Deer permits includes the following: Unit 1 -- 53; Unit 2 -- 18; Unit 3 -- 12; Unit 4 -- 36; Unit 5 -- 6; Unit 6 -- 242; Unit 7 -- 28; Unit 8 -- 608; Unit 9 -- 210; Unit 10 -- 824; Unit 11 -- 744; Unit 12 -- 479; Unit 13 -- 339; Unit 14 -- 407; Unit 15 -- 242; Unit 16 -- 325; Unit 17 -- 5; and Unit 18 -- 74.

Hunters who purchase a leftover permit will lose any preference points they may have accumulated for next year's drawing. Applicants who were successful in the nonresident drawing may not purchase a leftover permit. No hunter may purchase more than one permit that allows the take of an antlered deer. An antlered deer permit is required before purchasing a Whitetail Antlerless-Only Deer permit.
