7TH ANNUAL WILDLIFE APPRECIATION AND CONSERVATION DAYS SEPT. 11-12

Bluestem Farm and Ranch Supply to host annual event
EMPORIA — On Sept. 11-12, Bluestem Farm and Ranch Supply will host the 7th Annual Wildlife Appreciation and Conservation Days at 2611 West Highway 50 in Emporia. Conservation groups and vendors of outdoor equipment will be on hand to educate and show their wares. The groups will man booths and provide demonstrations of techniques for setting up hunting blinds, tree stands, and wildlife feeders.

Outside the store, the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks will man a Laser Shot booth for participants to test their skills in simulated hunting environments. Prize drawings will be held, including a grand prize Savage Model 16 .243 rifle.

For those who get hungry, Weber grill, Horizon Smoker, and Traeger Grill will demonstrate how to cook wild game. A hot dog stand will provide participants with hot dogs, beef, and beans. All proceeds from food sales will be divided among sponsoring conservation groups, including Quail Unlimited, Ducks Unlimited, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, National Wild Turkey Federation, Lyon County Soil Conservation, Kansas Hunter Education Program, Camp Alexander, and the Kansas Fur Harvesters Association.
