WATERFOWL HUNTERS' INFORMATION NIGHT IN CONCORDIA SEPT. 10

Meeting will help local hunters prepare for early teal and late waterfowl seasons
JAMESTOWN — At 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 10, the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP) will conduct a Waterfowl Hunters' Information Night at Cloud County Community College's Cook Theater. KDWP staff will give hunters an update on local waterfowl hunting areas, new maps, insider tips, upcoming seasons, understanding regulations, and information about what every duck boat should have. KDWP staff from Glen Elder, Jamestown, and Lovewell wildlife areas will be available to answer questions.

Other topics of discussion will include habitat conditions and hunter access points at the wildlife areas, expected fall flight forecast, results of the 2008 waterfowl season from hunter survey stations, and management plans for the future.

The early teal season runs Sept. 12-27 in the Jamestown area (Early Zone). Youth waterfowl seasons are Oct. 3-4 for the Early Zone. Early Zone regular seasons run Oct. 10-Dec. 6 and Dec. 19-Jan. 3, 2010.

Canada goose season segments are Oct. 31-Nov. 8 and Nov. 11-Feb. 14. For white-fronted geese, the season segments are Oct. 31-Nov. 8; Nov. 11-Jan. 3, 2010; and Feb. 6-14, 2010. The light goose season segments are Oct. 31-Nov. 8 and Nov. 11-Feb. 14, 2010.
