Wildlife, Parks and Tourism Commission Meeting in Wichita June 21

PRATT – The Great Plains Nature Center, 6232 East 29th St N, Wichita, will host a Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism (KDWPT) Commission Meeting

on Thursday, June 21, 2018. Members of the public are invited to attend both the afternoon session beginning at 1 p.m. and recessing at 5 p.m., and the evening session beginning at 6:30 p.m. Time will be set aside for public comment on non-agenda items at the beginning of each session.

During the afternoon session, attendees will hear a report on the agency and state fiscal status, and an update on the 2018 Kansas legislative session. The Commission will then hear General Discussion items to include 2019-2020 turkey season regulations; feral hog control; unmanned aerial vehicles; electronic licensing; and, the upcoming National Water Trail dedication event for the Arkansas River on June 23.

The Workshop Session will follow and include discussions surrounding migratory dove regulations, park regulations, fishing regulations, and Coast Guard navigation rules.

The Commission will recess by 5 p.m., and reconvene at 6:30 p.m. for a Public Hearing. Items to be voted upon during the public hearing include deer season dates on military reservations, public lands regulations, and elk management units.

If necessary, the Commission will reconvene at the Great Plains Nature Center at 9 a.m., June 22, 2018, to complete any unfinished business.
