Artists Invited to Paint “On the Trail” at Great Plains Nature Center

WICHITA – This year will mark the 12th Annual Art on the Trail event at the Great Plains Nature Center (GPNC), 6232 East 29th St N, Wichita and artists of all skill levels are invited to attend. Art and nature come together in Chisholm Creek Park as talented, local en plein aire artists put the colors of fall on canvas, Saturday, September 12 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Youth ages 5-18 are invited to join in on the fun, too, and paint a picture of their own.

Artists can register for $10 by visiting www.gpnc.org. Non-participating family members and friends may enjoy the sights free of charge.

Art on the Trail allows visitors to interact with working artists from the Wichita area. They will demonstrate their art form using a variety of media – watercolor, pastel and acrylic to name a few – along a half-mile loop of paved trail. All trails are ADA-accessible.

Free, seasonal refreshments, as well as a nature craft project for children will be provided. Artists are asked to bring their own supplies.

A friendly judging of the artists’ artwork will take place at 3 p.m. in the GPNC lobby followed by the announcement of this year’s postcard winner.

Don’t miss this opportunity to see nature through someone else’s eyes and experience first-hand how nature’s beauty can be captured on canvas.
