The chip timed trail run winds through scenic   El Dorado Lake State Park and adjacent private property. The double loop marathon, half marathon and 10K connect to the Teter Nature Trail; with some challenging single track trail. Depending on rainfall expect some wet and muddy crossings. Storm up the dam and enjoy lake views as you run along the lakeshore. Grassy moderate rolling hills of the Boulder Bluff horse trail await you next, work your way through the Walnut Ridge Trail before crossing the finish line near the amphitheater.

The 5K starts with a storm up the dam, enjoy lake views as you run along the shore, find adventure on a short portion of trail course, cross the Walnut River bridge for a final push on paved surface to the finish line.

Swim Course
Swimmers will start at the Walnut River Beach and complete one loop for the Sprint distance and 2 loops for the Olympic distance race.

Bike Course
The bike route starts at the Walnut River campground and continues out to Boulder Bluff Rd. Rd. The bicycles with then turn right and continue to the turnaround point before 12th St. Cyclists with then turn around and continue along Boulder Bluff Rd. until just before the Boating Dock parking lot. The cyclists will then turn around and continue to Myers Rd. where they will turn right. The turnaround on Myers Rd. will lead cyclists back to Boulder Bluff Rd. where they will again turn right and continue back to the transition area. The Olympic distance participants will then complete a second loop.

Run Course
Runners will head out of the transition area and run a loop around the campground and along the bike path for the Sprint distance race. The course is 2 loops for the Olympic distance race.

Clinton State Park and AmeriCorps invite you to join us for monthly hikes through the park every Second Sunday through the coming year. Each journey will take you approximately 2 miles along the sections of the existing North Shore Trails that flow throughout Clinton State Park. We'll be exploring the understatedly hilly terrain and abundant wildlife of Eastern Kansas. Amateur arborists and bird watchers will be amazed at the numerous species present within the park boundaries.
For this upcoming hike, and as a general rule for our Second Sundays, we do not recommend children under the age of six attend. Pets must be on a leash no longer than 10 foot. Younger children are welcome, but be aware that the uneven terrain and length of the hikes may create the need for more adult assistance.
Don’t forget to bring water and dress appropriately!
A Vehicle Permit will be required. Purchase one by the day at $5.00 or Annually for $25.00 and get into ALL Kansas State Parks for the rest of the year.

On Wednesday June 12, 2013 the Bureau of Reclamation announced that fireworks will no longer be allowed on lands or waters owned by the Bureau of Reclamation (BOR regulation 43 CFR 423.30 C) due to liability issues. Therefore, the discharge of personal fireworks at Lovewell State Park (including the Pioneer Day Use area), Lovewell Wildlife Area, Twin Coves Private Trailer area and Lovewell Private Cabin area is strictly prohibited. Persons discharging fireworks within these areas will be subject to penalties. Questions can be directed to the Lovewell State Park Office at (785) 753-4971.

On August 27th, 2016, El Dorado Lake will again host the area’s only all women’s triathlon. This all women’s triathlon event will be a Sprint Distance triathlon starting in the Walnut River Beach area. The 400 meter swim will follow a triangular course in the protected waters of Walnut River beach. The 9.5 mile bike course will follow a circular route throughout the lake and outskirts of El Dorado. The 3 mile run course will be throughout the lake property and along a paved bike trail. Aid stations will be found at every mile along the run course.

Various clinics and training opportunities will be hosted leading up to the event. Expect at least one clinic for each discipline hosted by local triathlon coaches and clubs.

A time when Lewis and Clark had finished their exploration, and others were wanting to follow in their footsteps. The event interprets 1800-1840 with a traditional rendezvous when Mountain Men and American Indians camped together to trade for needed supplies from the fur companies. Activities will include Indian and Mountain Men Encampments, Historical Traders, Blackpowder Shoot, Archery Demo's, Tomahawk Throw, Skillet Throw for the Ladies, and a Kids Gold Rush. Come out to Fall River State Park and step back to 1816.
