The Water...

"Lake Henry" sitting beside Clinton Lake is a quiet secluded four acre body of water built in the 1940's with healthy populations of sunfish, largemouth bass and channel catfish and during trout season its well stocked with trout.

Fishing's Future and the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism (KDWPT) are holding another training program that will certify instructors to teach fishing techniques in Kansas.

Have you ever wondered how to tell the difference between a White Bass and a Wiper? Or how to tie on a hook using an improved clinch knot? Whether you simply want to improve your general fishing knowledge, or are looking to sharpen your angling skills, then KDWPT has just the program for you. Along with Fishing’s Future, a non-profit organization aimed at getting families outdoors through the sport of fishing, KDWPT is now offering this "outstanding" Angler Education Program. This class will be held May 17, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Lake Henry in Clinton State Park in Lawrence, KS.

Similar to the other educational programs currently offered, the new Angler Education program will utilize qualified instructors to teach this class. Subjects covered include current rules and regulations, species identification, fishing ethics, equipment, knot-tying, casting, fish habitat, aquatic nuisance species, conservation, family fishing, adult beginner fishing, specialized fishing techniques and fishing for particular species.

“This program is a great way for any angler to expand their outdoors skills, become more active, and enjoy Kansas’ many parks and waterways,” said Fishing’s Future Kansas coordinator Kevin Reich.

Parking will be on the hill above Lake Henry and only handicapped parking in the parking lot by the lake. If there is inclement weather, we will move the operation into the Park Building on site.

This training is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AT NO COST, however pre-registration is required and you may do so simply by filling out the registration form on link below.

*All gate fees will be waived for event volunteers.

Oh, and don't forget to print off and bring the "Registration Form" with you to the event.
