GOVERNOR'S ONE-SHOT YOUTH HUNTING PROGRAM IN APRIL

Deadline for youth education program is Jan. 17
PRATT -- A youth hunting program has been incorporated into the Governor's Annual One-Shot Turkey Hunt, held in Butler County April 12-14, 2006. Six Kansas youngsters between the ages of 12 and 18, who have completed a certified hunter education program, will be selected to participate. All participants must have a valid Kansas spring turkey permit, and those 16 and older must also have a valid Kansas hunting license. The youth must be accompanied by an adult except when with a guide.

Those lucky winners will be provided the following:

  • a guide;
  • tickets and passes to all events for the parent/sponsor and the youth;
  • one turkey permit;
  • eligibility to join the Past Shooter and Guides Association when they turn 21; and
  • special awards.
