QUAIL UNLIMITED SPONSORS LANDOWNER APPRECIATION DINNER

Free dinner an opportunity to learn more about quail conservation programs
DODGE CITY -- The Dodge City Area Chapter of Quail Unlimited will be sponsoring a landowner appreciation dinner on Wednesday, May 10, at the 4-H Building, 901 West Park Street in Dodge City. The dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m.

To extend its gratitude for the good stewardship and conservation management practices that are being applied on the land, the Dodge City Area Quail Unlimited Chapter is offering this dinner to all private landowners, producers, farmers, and ranchers. Anyone interested in taking an active part in securing the future of the northern bobwhite quail and other upland game birds in this area may also attend.

The dinner is being offered in cooperation with the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP) and the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). Professional staff and personnel from each agency will present the benefits of their respective conservation programs, such as NRCS's Practice CP33 (habitat buffers for upland birds), Wildlife Habitat Incentive Program (WHIP), and Landowner Incentive Program (LIP); KDWP's Walk-in Hunting Area program (WIHA), and many other wildlife management programs, practices, and incentives.

To gather additional information, the attendees will be allowed to visit with the representatives of each organization at their respective booths after the presentations have been made and while dessert is being served. This will offer an opportunity for those in attendance to come away with a better understanding of the benefits -- financial and otherwise -- of the wildlife-friendly programs being offered and promoted by KDWP, NRCS, and Quail Unlimited.

There is no charge to attend this dinner, but seating is limited. To make reservations, contact Cindy Konda or Karen Steele at 620-227-8609.
