JEFFREY ENERGY CENTER OFFERS YOUTH DEER HUNTING OPPORTUNITY
Area open to youth only; registration deadline Nov. 2
ST. MARYS -- For the regular and January deer rifle seasons, the Westar Energy Green Team and Jeffrey Energy Center in St. Marys offers youth a special opportunity to hunt deer. The area is not open to all hunters, but youth 16 and younger with little or no deer hunting experience may hunt the seasons that run Nov. 28-Dec. 9 and Jan. 1-6.
Hunts will be out of enclosed blinds and led by an experienced volunteer hunter. The emphasis will be on doe harvest.
Owning a rifle is not required, but an adult mentor must accompany the youth. Past success has been very high, and slots are limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information or to register, phone Brad Loveless at 785-575-8115 by Friday, Nov. 2.
