FLINT HILLS FRIENDS OF THE NRA BANQUET SLATED FOR SEPTEMBER 27

Event to support shooting sports, hunter education

EMPORIA -- The Flint Hills Friends of the National Rifle Association (NRA) will hold its 2007 annual banquet on Thursday, Sept. 27, at the Anderson building on the Lyon County Fairgrounds. The doors will open at 5:30 p.m., and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m.

The purpose of this event is to raise money for the NRA Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) charitable organization that helps underwrite and support projects including youth firearms safety and education, hunter safety training, shooting range development, marksmanship training, and conservation training throughout the United States.

This event is for the whole family and will offer a number of high-quality auction items, door prizes, games, and more.

Friends of the NRA chapters provide services to anyone with an interest in the shooting sports and safe and responsible ownership of firearms. So far in 2007, Friends of the NRA grants awarded to Lyon County have exceeded $4,600, including the Lyon County Hunter Education, Camp Alexander Community Challenge, the Lyon County Hunter Education portable shooting range, and the Lyon County 4-H Shooting Sports. Since its inception, more than $782,000 has been awarded in the state of Kansas.

Tickets to this event are $25 per person, $40 per couple, $15 for youth, and $60 for a family of four.
