SPECIAL HUNT SCHEDULED AT CLINTON RESERVOIR

April 7 hunt designed to get youth afield; application deadline March 16
LAWRENCE -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Clinton Reservoir, along with Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks and the National Wild Turkey Federation, will host the second Youth Turkey Hunt at Clinton Reservoir on April 7.

The Clinton Lake Youth Turkey Hunt allows hunters to be drawn from a pool of applicants to hunt in an assigned area. Normally, hunting is not permitted in these areas at Clinton Reservoir, so hunters must carry a special hunt permit issued by the Corps of Engineers. All hunting must be in compliance with Kansas statutes.

The purpose of the special hunt is to introduce young hunters to skills, techniques, and ethics of turkey hunting. Young hunters ages 10 through 16 are eligible for the hunt. If the young hunter does not have access to an adult guide, one will be provided.

Interested applicants may contact the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Visitor Center at Clinton Reservoir by phone at 785-843-7665, fax at 785-843-4360, or e-mail at clinton@usace.army.mil to request an application. Applications are due by 4 p.m. on March 16. Applications may be dropped off or mailed to Clinton Lake Project Office, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, 872 N. 1402 Rd., Lawrence, KS 66049.
