KDWP PLANS WATERFOWL INFORMATION NIGHTS IN KANSAS CITY, WICHITA

Events cover regulations, hunting techniques and proposed zone changes for 2011
PRATT — The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP) will present waterfowl information nights in Wichita and Kansas City in preparation for seasons opening in October. The first will be held Oct. 4 at the Great Plains Nature Center, 29th and Woodlawn in Wichita, beginning at 7 p.m. Wildlife area managers Brent Theede and Kurt Grimm will discuss conditions and hunting prospects at McPherson and Slate Creek wetlands, respectively. Statewide waterfowl research biologist Faye McNew will cover new regulations, season dates, and proposed changes for 2011 waterfowl zones.

The second waterfowl information night will be conducted Oct. 14 from 6:30-9 p.m. at Cabela’s Kansas City, 10300 Cabela Drive in Kansas City, Kan. (just off of I-70 and I-435 near the Kansas Speedway). KDWP area managers, biologists, and natural resource officers from Clinton, Perry, Hillsdale, Marais des Cygnes, and Benedictine Bottoms wildlife areas will discuss waterfowl opportunities on their respective lands. McNew will also be present at this event to discuss this year’s waterfowl outlook from a statewide and flyway perspective, as well as cover information presented at the Wichita meeting.
