KDWP ANNOUNCES 2009 FREE VEHICLE ENTRANCE DAYS AT PARKS

Bargain days run from April through October

The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks has announced its schedule for 2009 Free Park Entrance Days, when anyone may enter individual state parks without a vehicle permit. (Camping and other permits are still required.) These events differ from park to park and are usually associated with special events to entertain park users. Each park is allowed two free entrance days, which may on a single weekend or at different times of the year.

The 2009 Free Park Entrance Days schedule includes the following state parks:

  • Cedar Bluff -- June 13-14 Naturalist Programs and Kids Fishing Derby
  • Cheney -- April 25-26, special events planned;
  • Clinton -- August 15-16, OK Kids Day;
  • Crawford -- May 10, Mothers Day, and Sept 19, 75th Anniversary Reunion;
  • El Dorado -- Oct. 3-4, OK Kids Day and other events;
  • Eisenhower -- June 13-14 Special Programs Planned;
  • Elk City -- June 6 OK Kids; Oct 31 Neewallah;
  • Cross Timbers -- April 22 Earth Day/OK Kids; June 6 National Trails Day;
  • Fall River -- June 6 National Trails Day; Sept. 26 Fall River Rendezvous;
  • Glen Elder -- June 6-7 Free Fishing Weekend;
  • Hillsdale -- May 10 & June 21 Special Programs Planned;
  • Kanopolis -- April 25-26 Special events planned;
  • Lovewell -- September 12-13 Chili Cook Off on 13;
  • Meade -- May 2-3 OK Kids on May 2;
  • Milford -- August 15 Extreme water festival; December 17 Eagle Day;
  • Perry-- June 6-7 Free Fishing Weekend;
  • Pomona -- May 2 OK Kids; June 6 Friends Fishing Derby;
  • Prairie Dog -- May 2-3 OK Kids on May 2;
