LOVEWELL STATE PARK SAND SCULPTURE CONTEST JULY 17

16th annual event offers team prizes and plenty of fun
WEBBER — The 16th annual Sand Castle/Sculpture Contest at Lovewell State Park, near Webber, is scheduled for Sunday, July 17, at the Southwinds Beach area of the state park. Teams comprising as many as five people can register at the state park office from 8 a.m. to noon on Sunday.

Sand castles will be judged at 2 p.m., and prizes will be awarded to the top three sand castles. Those who decide not to enter the contest are still invited to the beach to view these sand art masterpieces. A vehicle permit is required. Daily permits are $4.20, and annual permits are $24.70.

This annual event is popular with families and friends of all ages and is one of the biggest events of the year for Lovewell. Families with children as young as two and grandparents in their 70s all work together on entries. The park receives generous support from local businesses to make the event possible.
