Listing Timeline
Completed applications are evaluated by the T&E Task Committee (July 2018). The committee determines if substantial evidence has been presented by the petitioner to warrant a full review. Some of the factors considered are:
- evidence of decline or vulnerability using best scientific data available
- extent of threat
- listing rank
- population must be viable
- disease, exotic introduction, commercial use, etc
Committee recommendations on which species petitions merit full review.
- Approval of Sectary to accept preliminary recommendations and conduct full review
- General discussion agenda item in front of of KDWP Commission
- Hold informational meetings around the state
- Seek expert input via numeric evaluation forms and specific questions
- Evaluate present and future conservation actions
- News releases
- Publish public notice that review it warranted (90 day public comment period)
More interim requirements (subsequent to public notice publications)
- All documents regarding review made available on KDWP website
- Notify surrounding states and tribal governments
- Statement of economic impact for each listing
- All documents made available at local repository via request
Workshop at Commission meeting
Public hearing at KDWP Commission meeting and vote on list changes (probably mid 2019)
