The class will be held in Throckmorton Hall, Room 1014. Anglers aspiring to teach fishing techniques to youth, families, and students in Kansas are encouraged to attend. The class will be held 8:30 a.m. to noon. There is no cost to attend; however, class size is limited, so don't wait too long. Registration will open the first week of December, 2016. You must be 18 to become a Certified Angler Educator.
Youths between the ages of 12 and 17 may also attend and receive an Junior Ambassador Certificate. They will need to have a parent/guardian present to sign the release form. If a parent/guardian is unable to attend please contact Stuart Scott at firstname.lastname@example.org and he will email you the form so it can be signed in advance and brought to the class.
Apart from becoming a certified angler education instructor, attendees will also be given valuable information regarding working with children, sample curriculums, and tips for preparing a class or clinic. Other subjects covered in the class include current fishing regulations, species identification, fishing ethics, equipment, knot-tying, casting, fish habitat, aquatic nuisance species, and conservation practices.
We also ask that all candidates visit the KDWPT website and complete their online course and receive their Aquatic Nuisance Species Card. Click on the following link: http://ksoutdoors.com/Fishing/Aquatic-Nuisance-Species/Aquatic-Nuisance-...
