|Species||Rating||Size||Baits, Method & Location|
|Channel Catfish||Good||Up to 3 lbs||Chisholm North, Watson, Emery Park, the KDOT lakes and the other lakes in the Wichita Metro Area are excellent for Catfish. Channel Catfish were stocked in several public waters in the metro area on September 12th. Stockings will continue through the rest of this month. Try fishing at night or early mornings with cut bait, worms, or stink bait.|
|Crappie||Poor to Fair||Up to 12"||Crappie fishing is best at the KDOT Lakes, Watson Park, K-96 lake and Chisholm North lake. Try using minnows under a bobber or a small jig near structure.|
|Largemouth Bass||Fair to Good||Up to 18"||Bass fishing in Wichita can be found at any of the lakes, but the best reports come from the KDOT lakes, Emery Park, Blackbird and Sunflower Ponds and Chisholm north lake. Try fishing artificial lures in the morning or evening during the summer months. SThe recent cold front should make the bass more active.|
|Bluegill||Fair to Good||Up to 1 lb||Try a small piece of worm under a bobber or a small jig around structure. Bluegill are present in every lake in the area, but are especially good at Blackbird and Sunflower ponds, Chisholm North lake, and Emery Park Pond.|
|Rainbow Trout|| |
Rainbow Trout fishing is nonexistent in the summer. Stockings will begin in November 2019.
Remember that KDOT East, Vic's Lake, and Slough Creek are Type 1 trout waters and all anglers fishing those waters November 1st - April 15th must have a trout permit.
