SPRING TURKEY ATLAS NOW AVAILABLE

Atlas listing all public and walk-in land available online and in hard copy

PRATT - The Kansas youth spring turkey season runs April 8-10, and the regular season opens April 13 and runs through May 31. To help Kansans find places to hunt turkeys, the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP) has announced the publication of its annual Kansas Spring Turkey Hunting Atlas.

For turkey hunters, this much-anticipated publication contains county-by-county maps of all publicly-accessible land - including Walk-In Hunting Areas, state and federal wildlife areas, and federal wildlife refuges. The atlas is an essential tool for every turkey hunter. Nearly 125,000 acres of Walk-In Hunting Area land have been enrolled this spring. Originally confined to the eastern one-third of the state, the program has expanded to include counties in central, northcentral, and northwestern Kansas.

Properties shown on the atlas are enrolled for spring only. Special signs identify the areas as open in spring only.

The atlas may be downloaded or hard copies ordered from HERE on the website.  Hard copies also may be obtained at KDWP offices. In addition to the Spring Turkey Hunting Atlas, hunters may purchase turkey permits online .
