WALK-IN HUNTING ATLAS ONLINE, PRINTED COPIES COMING SOON
2006 Kansas Hunting and Furharvesting Regulations Summary also coming soon
Kansas hunters eagerly awaiting the September 1st opening of the 2006 dove hunting season don’t have to wait to start making plans. The 2006 Hunting Atlas, which includes maps showing locations of Walk-In Hunting Access (WIHA) and other public wildlife areas, is available online . Printed copies of the atlas will be available later this month at department offices and hunting license vendors around the state.
The 120-page atlas provides full-page maps of each of the state’s 105 counties, illustrating the locations of all WIHA and public wildlife areas available to hunters. Online visitors can view and print the complete atlas, or may choose to select specific county maps they are most likely to use. County maps are arranged alphabetically, and each includes an index listing the game species most likely to occur on WIHA properties.
All 2006 hunting seasons have been set except waterfowl seasons, which will be established in a public hearing of the Kansas Wildlife and Parks Commission Aug. 17th. Season dates for all other species are available now online , as well as in a publication titled “2006 Hunting Regulations Preview.” Printed copies of that brochure are available at department offices and license vendors.
The 2006 Kansas Hunting and Furharvesting Regulations Summary, which includes complete information on all seasons and regulations, will be available online Aug. 21st. Printed copies of that summary will be available at department offices and license vendors by mid-September.
