Introduction to shooting sports, "Refuse to be a Victim" presentation to highlight event

JUNCTION CITY -- On Aug. 5, the Women of the NRA, the NRA foundation, and local Junction City sponsors will conduct an all-day Women on Target clinic at the Geary County Fish and Game Association's Sportman's Acres. The event will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. All women 16 and older are invited and asked to bring friends. The event is free, and all participants will receive a free T-shirt.

Certified instructors will teach the basics of the shooting sports, including air pistol, .22 caliber rifle, shotgun, black powder, and archery. All equipment and ammunition will be provided free of charge.

In addition, an NRA "Refuse to be a Victim" presentation will be given as participants enjoy a free lunch. This will be a short seminar geared toward awareness and prevention of violent crimes. Topics include home, automobile, personal, and internet security. Participants will be taught how to integrate common-sense safety strategies into their lifestyles, providing information needed to minimize the chances of criminal attack.
