Recreational trails grant funding available, LWCF grants not available

There’s good news for local communities interested in developing recreational trails, but projects seeking funding through the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) will have to wait.

The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks has announced that funding will be available for recreational trails grants, as Congress reauthorized the Recreational Trails Act last year. Public entities interested in developing trails may download the application here . Applications for this grant will be accepted until August 1, 2006.

Due to lack of federal funding, the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks is not accepting applications for federal grants from the Land and Water Conservation Fund. Federal funding has been extremely limited this year, and no local side funding is available.
