Chapter to work both sides of Missouri/Kansas border
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Quail hunters from the Kansas City area have formed a new chapter of Quail Forever (QF). Called the KC Covey QF Chapter, the group is led by Jason Rasmussen of Lee's Summit, Mo., and Mike Maier of Leawood. Rasmussen and Maier say the new group plans to focus on quail habitat and youth conservation education in both states.

"I'm a lifelong quail hunter and have unfortunately seen the bobwhite population drop with each successive hunting season," explained Rasmussen, the chapter's president. "I like the Quail Forever model of empowering local people to make local habitat decisions. This local control of habitat dollars will be a great help to creating habitat for resident wildlife like quail."

Quail Forever was formed on August 10, 2005, by Pheasants Forever (PF) to address the loss of quail habitat and the subsequent quail population decline across the U.S. quail range. QF and PF allow local chapters complete control of their locally-raised conservation funds. This allows members to see the fruits of their chapter efforts locally while belonging to a national organization with a voice on federal conservation policy in Washington, D.C.
