NONRESIDENT DEER PERMITS IN THE MAIL
Leftover permits available after Aug. 1
PRATT – Nonresident 2006 deer permits have been mailed to successful applicants.
In addition to the permits, nonresidents who drew permits will receive a separate mailing containing a deer regulations summary; landowners will receive a separate mailing containing the regulation summary and a transfer application. Landowners may transfer the permits at any KDWP office, after completing the mailed application, or may complete the application online at the department’s website (www.kdwp.state.ks.us; click on “License/Permit Sales”).
More than 2,200 nonresident permits were not taken in the May nonresident drawing. These permits are all firearms Whitetail Either Sex permits and will go on sale Aug. 1 on a first-come, first-served basis. These leftover permits will be available at license vendors and through the KDWP website. The permit fee is $322.15. Leftover permits are available in deer management units 4, 6, 9, 10, 11, 13 and 14.
Hunters who purchase a leftover permit will lose any preference points they may have accumulated. Applicants who were successful in the nonresident drawing or the resident Any Deer permit drawing may not purchase a leftover permit. No hunter may purchase more than one permit that allows the take of an antlered deer. An antlered deer permit is required before purchasing a Whitetail Antlerless Only Deer Game Tag, unless the tag is purchased after Dec. 30.
