GARDEN CITY RESIDENT NAMED TO WILDLIFE & PARKS COMMISSION
Debra Bolton appointed by Gov. Kathleen Sebelius
Gov. Kathleen Sebelius has appointed Debra Bolton, Garden City, to the Kansas Wildlife & Parks Commission.
Ms. Bolton, an extension specialist with K-State Research and Extension, has been a southwest Kansas resident for 25 years. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English from St. Mary of the Plains College, a master’s degree in English from Fort Hays State University, and is a doctoral candidate in human ecology at Kansas State University.
She is a former director of the Finney County Community Learning Center, and serves as a volunteer tour guide at the Sandsage Bison Range, located south of Garden City. Ms. Bolton replaces Dr. James Harrington, who recently relocated from Liberal to Stillwater, OK. Her appointment to the Commission extends through June 30, 2009.
The seven-member Kansas Wildlife and Parks Commission advises the secretary of the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks on planning and policy issues. All positions on the commission are appointed by the governor. Regulations approved by the commission are adopted and administered by the secretary.
