2007 KANSAS HUNTING ATLAS ONLINE, PRINTED COPIES COMING SOON

Atlas shows all Walk-In, public access land in state

The 2007 Kansas Hunting Atlas, which includes maps showing locations of Walk-In Hunting Access (WIHA) and other public hunting areas, is now available online. Printed copies of the atlas will be available the week of Aug. 27 at department offices and hunting license vendors around the state.

The atlas provides 30 maps covering all of the state’s 105 counties and illustrating the locations of all WIHA and public hunting areas. Online visitors can view and print the complete atlas or may select specific maps they are most likely to use. Maps are arranged alphabetically, and each includes an index listing the game species most likely to occur on WIHA properties.

All 2007 hunting seasons have been set except late-migrating waterfowl seasons, which will be established in a public hearing of the Kansas Wildlife and Parks Commission Aug. 16. Season dates for all other species are available in the online Sportsmen's Calendar. Season information (except late migratory bird seasons) is also available in a one-page publication entitled "2007 Kansas Hunting Regulations Preview," now available at department offices and license vendors. The complete 2007 Kansas Hunting & Furharvesting Regulations Summary will be available online Aug. 21, and in printed form in early September.
