FREE PARK ENTRANCE WEEKEND...AND CHILI...AT LOVEWELL STATE PARK
Annual event a big draw in northcentral Kansas
WEBBER -- Lovewell State Park has scheduled its Free Park Entrance Days for Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 8-9. For those two days, vehicle permits are not required to enter Lovewell State Park, near Webber. However, those who plan to camp overnight in the park will still have to purchase a camping permit, available at the park office or self-pay station.
In conjunction with the Free Park Entrance Days, park staff will sponsor the 3rd Annual Chili Cookoff on Sunday, Sept. 9. Pre-registration for this event is due no later than 9 a.m. on the day of event. Prizes will be awarded to the first-, second-, and third-place chili entries. All entries will be eligible for prizes by drawing. Judging tickets will be available at 12:30 p.m., and judging will begin at 1 p.m. A $2 donation per ticket to judge entries will be collected. Donations will be used for prizes for the park's many special events throughout the year.
