JUNE EVENT FOCUSES ON DEVELOPING WOMEN’S OUTDOOR SKILLS
Scott Lake’s Camp Lakeside set for ‘Women’s Outdoor Adventures’ June 8-10
SCOTT CITY -- The best way to learn a new skill is hands-on instruction, under the guidance of an expert. That’s the premise for “Women’s Outdoor Adventures,” a weekend workshop planned at Scott State Park June 8-10.
Sponsored by the Santa Fe Trail Resource Conservation & Development Area Council, the workshop is designed for women 21 years of age or older who want to learn or improve their outdoor skills. A variety of skills are on the menu of classes available, including the following:
- canoeing;
- archery;
- outdoor art;
- overnight camping;
- mountain biking;
- shooting sports;
- survival skills;
- navigation basics;
- boating;
- scuba diving;
- outdoor photography; and
- self defense.
The workshop fee of $150 (add $15 if registration is postmarked after May 24) covers meals, lodging, all programs and instruction, and a T-shirt. Lodging at Camp Lakeside is dormitory-style. Air-conditioned sleeping rooms accommodate up to 20 people per room. Participants should bring their own bedding or sleeping bags, as well as towels and wash cloths
Registrations for the event are due May 24. More information and registration forms are available at the Santa Fe Trail RC & D website, www.santafetrailrcd.org. Interested persons may also call 620-355-4091 or email sftrcd@santafetrailrcd.org for more details.
