QUAIL UNLIMITED CHAPTER TO HOLD SUPER BOWL FUNDRAISER

Hunters, conservationists, and sport fans to rally behind favorite teams,
raise money for quail habitat development

The Chisholm Trail Chapter of Quail Unlimited (QU), covering Dickinson and surrounding counties, is planning their first annual fundraiser to coincide with the NFL Super Bowl on Sunday, February 3. The event will take place at the Lumberyard Restaurant and Bar, 114 W. 4th Street in Chapman. The fundraiser will begin at 5:30 p.m., and admission is $15 per person.

“We thought we would try something unusual for our first event," said Steve Marston, chapter chairman. “Most hunters and conservationists I know like football, so we joined the two. It's a great opportunity to bring awareness of the decline of quail habitat on a day when sports fans are eager to get together."

“Our goals and objectives are clear," said Jim Townsend, local landowner, businessman, and Chisholm Trail Chapter treasurer. "We want to raise funds to support quail habitat restoration in our area through support of the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks' (KDWP) Northeast Kansas Quail/Upland Bird Habitat Initiative. We’re also planning an outing for a group of young people to visit the Milford Nature Center."
