SCOTT STATE LAKE YOUTH PROGRAM TO GIVE AWAY YOUTH SHOTGUN

Hunting skills seminar will also offer guided hunts and other prizes

On Aug. 16, the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP) will host a youth waterfowl program from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Scott State Park. The program is designed to teach and improve hunting skills, including duck calling, shotgun shooting, trapping techniques, and waterfowl identification. As a bonus, individuals attending the half-day program will have the opportunity to draw from one of 24 guided hunts for duck, geese, turkey, or deer.

Youth must be ages 10 through 16. Sponsors will provide a free lunch for everyone who attends the program. Hats, shirts, and duck calls will be given away, and one lucky youth will win a Remington 870 shotgun from Extreme Fowl of Southwest Kansas.

Participants must pre-register at the KDWP Region 3 Office in Dodge City or phone 620-227-8609. The event is made possible by Pattern Master, Extreme Fowl, Reel Wing Decoys, Mack’s Prairie Wings, Final Approach, Heavy-Shot, The Oasis, Echo Goose and Duck Calls, Real Geese, RNT Calls, and Pheasants Forever of Scott City.
