State parks and wildlife areas open while offices close for holiday weekend
PRATT – Thanksgiving brings families together, and many honor a tradition of spending time outdoors during the extended holiday weekend. And while all state parks and wildlife areas are open for outdoor fun, the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism (KDWPT) has announced that its offices will be closed Nov. 30-Dec. 1. In addition, some state park offices will be closed Wednesday, Nov. 27, as well.
Normal hours for KDWPT regional and district offices are 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday, but state park offices may also have weekend hours to accommodate park visitors. While all state park areas and facilities normally available during the winter season will be open over Thanksgiving, the park offices will be closed. Park offices at Cedar Bluff, Crawford, Kanopolis, Lovewell, Milford, Perry and Webster state parks will also be closed on Wednesday, Nov. 27. Scott State Park’s office will only be open Monday, November 25 during the holiday week. Normal office hours will resume Dec. 2.
Most license and permit services provided at KDWPT offices are available through the more than 600 retail vendors statewide, as well as on the department’s website, www.ksoutdoors.com. You’ll also find season dates, regulations, atlases, park and area brochures, and just about any other information you need to enjoy the Kansas outdoors on the website. Daily park permits can be obtained through self-service pay stations located at state park entrance kiosks.
