Five dollars, the price of a daily park permit, can get you a day’s-worth of family fun
PRATT – Lovewell State Park and Lovewell Marina will host the 2014 Lovewell Fun Day Saturday, August 2. The annual event runs from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. and will provide parkgoers with a day’s-worth of family-friendly activities all ages will enjoy.
Festivities kick off with a 5K and 10K walk-run, open to all ages. Registration for the walk and run will begin at 7 a.m.
Following the race, a co-ed mud volleyball tournament will provide a mess of a good time beginning at 10 a.m. Volleyball teams must preregister by July 31 by calling Lovewell State Park at (785) 753-4971. The cost to participate in the tournament is $20 per team, and there is a 10-team limit.
Kiddos can enjoy some activities of their own with a minnow race at 10 a.m., a sand pile treasure hunt at 11 a.m., a rock-paper-scissors tournament at 12 p.m., and a log race at 2 p.m.
All events are open to park visitors of all ages and require no preregistration, with the exception of the mud volleyball tournament. A vehicle permit is required to enter Lovewell State Park. Daily permits can be purchased for $5.00, and annual permits are $25.00.
