THREE-DAY OUTDOORS-WOMAN WORKSHOP ACCEPTING PARTICIPANTS
August 7, 2014
Registration closes Sept. 5
PRATT – Hunting seasons will be here before you know it, and what better time than now for women interested in the outdoors to learn the “ins and outs?” The Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism (KDWPT), in conjunction with the Becoming an Outdoors-Woman program, will host a three-day women’s workshop at the Rock Springs 4-H Center in Junction City, Sept 19-21. The workshop is designed to provide women hands-on experience with a variety of outdoor activities. Registration is limited and closes Sept. 5.
Participants can select courses about hunting, fishing, shooting, outdoor survival, animal identification, crafts, cooking, and more. Classes are taught by a core of dedicated volunteer instructors, including KDWPT employees, seasoned marksmen, law enforcement officials, experienced outdoor enthusiasts, and even past participants.
Cost for the three-day workshop is $215, which includes lodging, meals, instruction, supplies and use of equipment. Three $100 scholarships are available to first-time participants based on financial need. To register, visit www.ksoutdoors.com, click “Services/Education/Becoming an Outdoors Woman,” and download a registration form.
