Antelope Application Period To Close

PRATT – The application period for Kansas firearm and muzzleloader antelope hunting permits will close Friday, June 8 at midnight. Resident hunters must apply online for the limited number of permits allocated in three western Kansas management units, which correspond with Deer Management Units 2, 17 and 18.

For the Oct. 1-8, 2018 muzzleloader season, 34 resident muzzleloader permits are allocated in Unit 2; 10 resident muzzleloader permits are allocated in Unit 17 ; and in Unit 18, there are 6 resident muzzleloader permits allocated.

For the Oct. 5-8, 2018 firearm season,122 resident permits are allocated in Unit 2; 44 resident firearm permits are allocated in Unit 17; and in Unit 18, 14 resident firearm permits are allocated.

The bag limit is one antelope of either sex per permit. Half of the firearm and muzzleloader permits in each unit are set aside for landowner/tenants in the drawing. Applicants who don’t draw a permit will receive a refund and a preference point that will increase their odds of success in future draws. General Resident Firearm and Muzzleloader permits are $62.50, Landowner/Tenant permits are $37.50 and Youth permits are $22.50 – which include a nonrefundable $10 application fee. Hunters who don’t plan to hunt in 2018 can purchase a preference point only for $12.50.

The archery season is Sept. 22-30, 2018 and Oct. 13-21, 2018, and unlimited permits (one per hunter) are available to residents and nonresidents online and over the counter. For more information on antelope hunting and how to apply for a firearm or muzzleloader permit, go to www.ksoutdoors.com.
