Flint Hills Trail Project

August 26, 2019 - Project Update: The current phase of construction has started at Allen, Kansas and will continue through Admire, Miller, to Osage City for 18 miles.Temporary trail closures and bridge and culvert closures will occur with construction activities. This phase of construction is anticipated to be complete sometime in the spring of 2020.

Future trail construction phases will include Osage City to Vassar, Ottawa east through Rantoul to Osawatomie and from Council Grove to Herington.

Developing the trail will encourage outdoor recreation and provide safer routes for pedestrians, bicyclists and equestrians. Several segments of the trail are unimproved or closed, but long-range plans call for it to be improved along its entire length. The design team of CFS Engineers and RDG Planning and Design is leading the planning and design of the improvements, which will be completed in segments as funds become available.
