Approximately 48 buffalo from the Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism's herd at the Maxwell Refuge will be sold, consisting of:

  • 11 2-yr-old bulls
  • 5 cows
  • 5 cow/calf pairs
  • 6 yearling heifers
  • 6 yearling bulls
  • 5 heifer calves
  • 5 bull calves

TERMS: Cash (personal check will be accepted if accompanied by a notarized authorization letter from the issuing bank). Buffalo over one year old will be brucellosis and tuberculosis tested and accompanied with a health certificate. Heifer calves will be vaccinated for brucellosis and certificates will be issued. The Department reserves the right to reject any or all bids. Buyers must pick up buffalo the day of the sale or make arrangements with the refuge manager prior to the sale. Animals become buyer's responsibility upon settlement on sale day. Load out assistance is available until dusk. Stock racks and trailers should be covered or lined; buffalo transport better in darkened conditions.
