The KWEC will celebrate its one-year anniversary with family activities, tours and an ice cream social. On Saturday, hours will be extended to 7 p.m., and participants may sign up for tours of Cheyenne Bottoms from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Following a shorebird identification program at 1 p.m., participants may take a shorebird identification field trip to the Bottoms. A cake and ice cream social at 3 p.m. will be followed by a presentation at 3:30 p.m. on KWEC by Curtis Wolf, KWEC manager. On Sunday, Pam Martin, KDWP educator, will hold a kids craft activity from 1:30-3 p.m., with cake and ice cream at 2 p.m. Robert Penner, Nature Conservancy avain program manager, will present "Birds in Trouble." Cheyenne Bottoms tours will take place from 3:30-5p.m. On both days, family activities include sidewalk chalk art, an exhibit gallery scavenger hunt, and wildlife identification videos.
